We’re looking for a talented, dynamic Operations Manager at our beautiful and rustic Skagit location with a proven aptitude and desire to quickly forge relationships and to think outside of the box. This opportunity requires a strong communicator who can think on their feet and who is astute with interpersonal dynamics. Relocation assistance is available. • Provide management and leadership direction for construction management, operations/maintenance and warehouse functions for the Skagit Hydroelectric Project, which consists of four hydroelectric dams and powerhouses: Ross, Diablo, Newhalem Creek and Gorge. • Manage, lead and oversee ongoing operations/maintenance of these plants and two company towns (Newhalem and Diablo), project design for capital and maintenance work, construction, warehouse and licensing and involvement in community affairs. • Manage, monitor and administer human resource policies/programs that align with utility-wide practices to recognize diversity and commitment to racial and social justice. • Administer labor contracts fairly and consistently, respond to grievances in a timely and appropriate manner. • Serve as a local/regional representative with local, state and Federal agencies that operate in this area which may include participation in local/regional and community forums in support of socioeconomic initiatives, recreation planning, security and emergency management, industry best practices and related activities. • Provide support to Citywide or departmental strategic oversight as assigned by Council. Responsible for a budget of approximately $17.3 million for operations and capital projects. Serve as a key member of the Power Production management team of Seattle City Light. Promote organizational change and advocate for management initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Five years of high level management and leadership experience in mechanical and industrial technology or related area of responsibility, including experience as a manager or supervisor with increasingly higher responsibility for daily operations and oversight of a large, complex organization. The equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology or a related discipline, or additional qualifying management experience. Experience managing represented employees. Working knowledge of work management systems, long term maintenance planning and resource scheduling. In-depth knowledge of Mechanical and Industrial Technology. Ability to actively promote, support and manage key strategic Citywide initiatives, including those related to fair and equal employment, diversity and justice in the workplace. Proven track record in coaching, counseling and developing employees of diverse backgrounds. Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations such as OSHA, WISHA and NEMA specifications, the NESC and WAC (Washington Admin Code) 296-45 (Safety Standards for Electrical Workers). DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Electric Utility experience highly preferred. Ten years or more of progressively responsible assignments with at least five years as a manager or supervisor in a large complex organization. Ability to provide leadership in an environment of change; willingness to make difficult and challenging decisions. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in work management and organizational change. Skilled in developing and managing complex and large budgets. Skilled in making decisions independently related to policies and procedures, employee issues, injuries and safety. Experienced in managing workgroups with 85+ employees. Experience in dealing with government agencies at the Federal, state and local level and dealing with issues associated with living and working in small, remotely located areas. Skilled in developing and implementing work management systems and practices. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Conviction History.
