ALSTOM Grid – Aleader in the grid management industry providing high-voltage equipment, engineered solutions, power electronics, automation, control rooms and service to utility and large industrial customers worldwide, has an opening for a Controls Engineer in its Philadelphia, PA location! 

 

The Controls Engineer will support and enhance the engineering efforts of the Power Electronics Philadelphia (PEP) unit to meet required delivery dates on projects and support PEP product improvement.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining design files and documentation for existing and future PEP control systems.
  • Assist in resolving manufacturing problems
  • Perform testing of current and future control systems
  • Be primary person to do field repair and routine maintenance of control system equipment. 
  • Support RTDS usage, application and simulation programs.
  • Support and enhance Technology Transfer Projects. Follow and timely execute specified tasks. Identify technological issues and potential difficulties.
  • Identify key cost savings areas for the PEP power electronics and controls
  • Gain familiarity with the PEP field installations and commissioning process. Actively support those efforts on an as needed basis.

 

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

 

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from college or university in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of the experience in the field of Power Electronics, ideally with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)
  • Full knowledge of the related IT tools such as Matlab and other simulation tools

  • The successful candidate is expected to be detail-oriented and to be able to learn and work independently. Occasional travel might be required.
