Job Description:



 FPL is the largest rate-regulated electric utility in Florida and serves the third-largest number of customers of any electric utility in the US. FPL is a leading Florida employer. Responsible for advanced engineering tasks which require broad nuclear plant engineering experience and application of engineering principles. Work independently with broad supervisory review and has a wide latitude to exercise judgement and make decisions. Independently perform highly complex engineering tasks that require knowledge and experience with nuclear industry standards and regulations. Effectively communicate and can perform the lead role in a group situation to resolve problems or coordinate design production. 
Typical Tasks:
  • Complete engineering tasks associated with major and complex nuclear plant modifications involving multilevel software programs and databases for digital plant upgrades, including preparation and/or support of the following
    • Complex digital project  technical specifications
    • Technical compliance matrixes
    • Technical bid evaluations
    • Software Verification and Validation programs
    • Preparation of Engineering Change Packages
    • 10CFR50.59 Evaluation
    • Factory Acceptance Procedures
    • Site Acceptance Procedures
    • Preparation of point list databases
    • Preparation of new system testing requirements
      • Testing compliance matrices
      • Factory Acceptance Testing of software and hardware components
      • Site Acceptance Testing
      • System interface testing
    • Complete Alternative Analysis for the potential solutions            
  • Interface with the management team and/or NRC regulators to properly communicate project scopes, effects on license basis and Technical Specifications.
  • Perform digital system upgrades of moderate complexity and reviews in accordance with current industry guidelines
    • NEI 01-01, Guideline on Licensing Digital Upgrades
    • EPRI Guideline for Performing Defense-in-Depth and Diversity Assessments for Digital I&C Upgrades
    • EPRI TR-106439 Guideline on Evaluation and Acceptance of Commercial Grade Digital Equipment of Nuclear Safety Applications





  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • PE preferred, may substitute for BS degree.
  • Eight (8) years or more years of engineering or related experience required.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in nuclear power generation is required

Highly Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Nuclear Plant Digital Upgrades
  • Minimum 3 years nuclear power plant experience
