ALSTOM Grid – Aleader in the grid management industry providing high-voltage equipment, engineered solutions, power electronics, automation, control rooms and service to utility and large industrial customers worldwide, has an opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer in its Philadelphia, PA location! 

 

The Supplier Quality Engineer will serve as a primary internal contact for supplier related quality issues, acting as the liaison between the Supplier and all other organizational departments. This person will also provide limited technical support or assist in the troubleshooting of in-process quality issues, and will assist in the implementation and maintenance of the company’s quality management system.

 

Additional Responsibilities for the Supplier Quality Engineer include:

  • Uses Six Sigma and other applicable tools and methods to ensure continuous improvement to processes and products supplied
  • Performs root cause analysis and to determine deficiencies and suggests modifications /implements processes to address and improve
  • Employs statistical methods to measure and analyze quality data as required
  • Works closely with Purchasing Department to monitor and evaluate supplier performance and other associated metrics
  • Confers with Engineers in order to assure quality of new products and designs
  • Assists in the definition of requirements and assessment of a new supplier
  • Performs supplier registration and surveillance audits to ensure supplier quality
  • Schedules, leads, and documents regular supplier audits in accordance with supplier performance
  • Visits suppliers as necessary to evaluate deficiencies and assist in process improvements
  • Assists in the coordination of supplier delivery conditions with internal packaging and storage requirements
  • Generates and documents reports to record supplier quality issues, nonconformance and other related non-quality incidents
  • Supports the Quality Assurance Manager in the maintenance of the Company's Quality Management System; Develops new procedures and work instructions, where appropriate
  • Develops, directs, and implements quality assurance training for personnel as necessary
  • Participates and provides input, as required

 

 

 

 

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

 

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from 4-year College or university in a technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality assurance role in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six Sigma training and experience preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel to supplier sites. International travel may also be necessary.
