Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose The Senior Transformer Design Engineer will be responsible for large power Transformers for Shell type electrical design. In this role, this individual will own new unit and remanufacture shell electrical coil design, and lead efforts on new product and new tool introductions. This position will also support quoting and provide an essential point of contact for Requisition calls, customer design reviews, internal design reviews for the transformer design.

Essential Responsibilities

Shell Type transformer design leader, owning all shell design activity

Perform electrical re-designs for EHV class power transformers (1425 kV BIL and above) as part of the GE Energy refurbishment business

Perform EHV power transformer electrical design (500 kV class), failure analysis and design studies

Perform engineering of new unit shell transformers; Lead new unit team

Support unit testing analysis and results

Support winding design, review and approve drawings and support manufacturing operations including pre-tanking inspections, winding inspections and testing

Engineering point of contact for customer Interactions and design reviews

Drive peer reviews of specification acceptance and preliminary design

Maintain knowledge of IEEE standards and references

Responsible for design deliverables on shell transformers, drawing package and reviews

Work with unit teardown gathering measurements and data to feed design engineering

Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)

Minimum of 1 year of Shell Electrical Design experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Transformer design

Minimum of 5 years of experience in design tools (autocad and ansys)

Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge

Masters degree or PHd

Core and Coil design experience

Mechanical externals and internals design experience

OEM Shell technology experience

Mobile unit experience

GB certified (GE employees only)
