Job Description:

This position serves as the primary Safety and Health resource for the utility company. Scope of responsibility includes facilitating and monitoring all aspects of the company??s Safety and Health process and the development of programs addressing specific safety and health issues. Supervises a staff of Safety/IH Professionals and provides leadership required to manage safety program including; establishment of appropriate metrics, performance monitoring, acting as a catalyst for continued improvement and culture change in the organization, accident investigation and providing technical expertise regarding safety and health issues.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead, coach, mentor and manage performance of direct reports. 40% Drives and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term tactical initiatives designed to assure the highest levels compliance with OSHA, U.S. DOT regulations and to achieve Exelon??s safety performance goals.

Manage their teams budget. Establish and monitor business plans and business unit objectives. Balance cost control with appropriate capital and maintenance investments.

Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Promotes diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.

Provide leadership to and development of the Safety Professional team. Provide coaching and mentoring to leadership in the area of Safety Culture Change (VP thru employee). Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene/Health, Environmental, Organizational Management, or related field with 8 - 10 years of Operational /Safety experience.

Or in lieu of a bachelors degree 15 + years of Operations experience including the demonstrated ability to manage a team.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated planning and organizational skills

Demonstrated leadership ability to implement and manage change initiatives and organizational strategies.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret information and formulate recommendations.


Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams

Demonstrated PC application skills and related systems e.g. Datapipe.
Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles of leadership.

Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate conflict to better the business.

Demonstrated ability to implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.

Demonstrated business acumen, employee awareness and ability to create value.

Availability for supervisory assignments across the ComEd Service Territory

Valid drivers license and access to insure vehicle


EXLECTRICAL SYSTEMS FIELD EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE. STRONGLY PREFER CANDIDATES WITH T&D or ULTILITY EXPERIENCE

Supervisor provides supervision, direction and coaching to team members as required. This position is dotted line to the Directors of Operational Regions (client base). The scope of this job includes coaching and challenging leadership (VP, Dir. Mngr, Supv.) to change traditional habits or management styles and raise conflict in an effort to foster culture change. The position requires creativity and the ability to develop innovations for continued safety program improvement, and the ability to be a catalyst for organizational change.

Direct Supervision of direct reports with total team size ranging from 6-16 members. Responsibility for the management of a comprehensive Safety and Industrial Hygiene program, including local Safety councils.

Manage an overall operating budget in excess of $1 million to achieve all program and corporate goals.

Develop and implement innovative strategic initiatives that ensure continued Safety improvement and cost saving opportunities.

Ensure Behavioral Safety Observation programs are in alignment with all safety and quality expectations as outlined in contract terms & conditions.
