Job Description:

The United Illuminating Company, headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut is an investor-owned regional electric utility that provides service to more than 320,000 customers in the greater New Haven and Bridgeport area. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in our Shelton facility.

The candidate will have a central role in developing distribution construction and design standards for electrical overhead and underground lines operating to 15,000 volts. Write engineering specifications for electrical equipment. Create material specifications for various items; such as concrete products, poles, transformers, cable, etc. Work independently with only administrative and general direction from supervision. Develop a strong technical knowledge base to serve as technical advisor for electric equipment such as cable, transformers, switchgear, etc. Follow research taking place in the power industry, analyze and keep the state of progress.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university plus 5 years experience performing engineering duties, or an A.S. degree from an ABET accredited university, plus 9 years experience.
