Job Description:

The United Illuminating Company, headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut is an investor-owned regional electric utility that provides service to more than 320,000 customers in the greater New Haven and Bridgeport area. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in our Shelton facility.

The System Dispatcher monitors the status of transmission and distribution equipment and evaluates system disturbance data. Determines, initiates, and coordinates corrective actions required to restore the Electric System to its normal operation. Ensure that operating procedures and practices are adhered to. Recommend process, programming and equipment improvements associated with daily work procedures, SCADA, other computer systems and Electric System operating procedures.

This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and four to six years experience in a job that provides formal training in electrical concepts. In lieu of a degree, candidates may also have four years in a specific Electric System (Distribution, Transmission,Protection etc.) or Energy discipline. Position requires passing of a System Operator / Power Dispatcher Test Battery. Individual must be available for 24-hour coverage as required.
