Northeast /New England Relocation not necessary / Regionally based preferred Excellent compensation program Position Summary: The person holding this position oversees facility business support systems and related interfaces for energy power station, providing business perspective, support and guidance to the President/COO, Plant Manager and Financial Manager, other site team members, and other departmental/functional team members throughout the organization. The primary function of the Business Manager is management of the energy hedge program including origination, negotiation and execution of the related transaction documents. The Business Manager will also provide stakeholders projected and reported results; develop and implement database systems required for merchant operations; analyze key operating and business parameters and then advise of recommended strategy to achieve optimum performance;; analyze and support Finance on reconciliation of contract invoices, prepare and submit reports needed; assist President in strategic and business plan development and prepare and analyze budgets. Finally, he or she will leverage business management training, experience, observations, interactions and understanding to enhance financial results through advice and action. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop, implement and then manage on an ongoing basis the annual power hedge program.
- As directed by the project Financial Manager and President, maintains and enhances managerial reporting of financial and operational reporting and leads the project team in the development of short and long-term forecasting with options and solutions for improvements.
- Provides leadership and support in interpreting, developing, negotiating, and implementing commercial terms for all project contracts and agreements, including strategic business initiatives, to enhance and optimize the long-term asset positioning of the project.
- Understands accounting activities in accordance with GAAP, including receipt of goods and materials.
- Interfaces and assists the Plant Manager, Finance Manager and Plant Staff in development and implementation of a facility operating strategy designed to optimize performance.
- Ensures that effective controls are in place to safeguard project assets, including cash, receivables, inventories, capital assets, and contractual rights. Monitors and ensures compliance with corporate, legal, and professional standards.
- Coordinates and maintains awareness of all project financial, accounting, tax, insurance, and related matters managed onsite.
- Maintains working relationships with all functional departments to ensure the efficient and optimal operation of the project.
- Provides financial review, planning, and modeling for the project as required.
- Participates in the development and achievement of strategic business plans, goals, and objectives.
- Provides financial support for future development efforts.
Required Job-Related Qualifications: - Business, Accounting or Engineering Degree or a minimum of ten years relevant experience.
- Experience in the energy industry or related industry, with preference for project budget, contract management and plant performance
- Knowledge and experience of strategic planning and optimization of plant operations.
- Knowledge and experience with ISO-NE Rules and merchant plant operations preferred.
- Expertise in the development, negotiation, implementation, and administration of contracts.
- Familiar with and can interpret proforma EEI and ISDA contract terms and conditions
- Excellent leadership abilities and technical competence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency utilizing modeling tools, statistical analysis tools, process development, presentation software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
