American Transmission Company (ATC) is the first multi-state transmission-only company in the United States. ATC owns, plans, maintains, monitors and operates electric transmission equipment while striving to provide exceptional customer service. We provide electric transmission service from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, throughout the eastern half of Wisconsin and into portions of Illinois. Our 8,900 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and 450 substations provide communities with access to local and regional energy sources. Unlike other utilities, ATC has a sole focus – transmission. We are not involved in the generation, distribution or marketing of electricity. We operate our $700 million transmission system as a single entity, providing comparable service to all our customers. As a single-purpose company, we have an economic incentive to provide access to energy markets, to make necessary expansion to the transmission grid and to provide exceptional customer service.

ATC employs 400 plus employees, is headquartered in Pewaukee, WI. and has locations in Madison, Cottage Grove, De Pere and Wausau, WI; Kingsford MI. and Washington, DC.
