ISO New England assumes the responsibility for managing the New England region's electric bulk power generation and transmission systems. Based in Holyoke, Massachusetts, ISO New England was formed by transferring staff and equipment from the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) to the new organization. ISO New England, in addition to operating the grid and transmission reservation system, also administers the restructured wholesale electricity marketplace for the region. Six wholesale electricity products are bought and sold by market participants on an Internet-based markets system.
